Are You Heavy Laden?

One of the most perplexing missing person cases in FBI history dates back to the 1930s. A 45-year-old judge from New York vanished after a night out with friends. Following his disappearance, the FBI was called in, initially suspecting he had been kidnapped due to judicial grievances. However, this lead did not yield any results. Next, they considered the possibility of Mafia involvement, given that he had openly opposed their activities, but that investigation also failed to produce answers.

The only piece of evidence left behind was a note written by the judge and a large check made out to his wife. When she returned home that night, she found the check on the table along with a note in his handwriting that simply read, "I am very, very tired. Love, Joe." This statement raises questions: Was he simply expressing fatigue after a long day, or was it a deeper reflection of despair?

Today, many speculate that he may have taken a taxi to an undisclosed location to end his life, trapped by overwhelming weariness. This kind of exhaustion, distinct from everyday physical fatigue, resonates with many of us—it's the fatigue that stems from the struggles of life itself.

We all can grow weary and experience fatigue or discouragement, but there is One who said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” — Matthew 11:28-30

How I appreciate that! The Lord of the universe has invited anyone who is weary to come to Him.
